Liriodendron tulipifera :: Tulip Tree


Foliage: Medium green, up to 8" across
Size: 60' tall x 30' wide
Fall Color: Bright, clear yellow
Soil: Moist, well drained but will tolerate occasional wet and some drought
Shape: Oval
Growth Rate: Fast
Flower: Yellow to greenish yellow, with orange center, tulip-like
Fruit: Brown 1-3" elongated and flat
Exposure: Full sun
Additional Notes: Sometimes knowns as a yellow popular. No serious insect or disease problems. Trunks can reach 4-6" in diameter at maturity. Flowers tend to go unnoticed since leaves are fully developed when blooming and the branches are high off the ground.
